Twitterive
My Twitterive went through several drafts in this project. I was never much of a Twitter person so when this project was assigned I was a little nervous. I really had no idea what I was doing. When "place" was discussed in class I had idea that gave me a starting point. My friends Mike, Steve, Gina, and I all went to a haunted village in Vineland two years ago. It was around Halloween that we really got involved with this project so I thought why not make a ghost story. Since I still struggled with the concept of tweeting I decided to have my observations mostly relate to a horror theme. Having a theme in mind helped me tweet. Since I knew I was going to struggle with this project I decided to take Professor Mangini's advice to the class of having several drafts. I created a new tab/draft with each revision.
Twitterive Draft 1 I was still trying to figure out how I wanted to write the project. I used specific tweets thinking it had to be word for word. The pictures were the main part in this draft, but there wasn't much of a connection with the bit of story I had. The music downloaded for the project also wasn't playing. It was a starting point though.
Twitterive Draft 2 I had more ideas of what I wanted to do. I got a little to obsessed with the music part of the project. I emailed weebly about how to fix the problem and they came back with a response, but not really a helpful one. The help they did give was give me the key words "embedded html code". I used found a found my own way of playing the music. I was so excited about the music that I let the narrative part slide. The layout was another aspect I was playing with. I had two separate stories side by side. Since we had to use several genres I wrote one ghost story and another story of the expedition that me and my friends took. The ghost had some truth in it, but to add to the suspense I fictionalized it a little. I didn't write to much of the expedition because I was a little confused of how that would connect with the ghost story. Also I didn't know where to place my pictures so they are just at the end. The presentation helped me find the direction I needed to take in my Twitterive.
Twitterive Draft 3 took me a while to post after my presentation. I didn't want to have ten drafts posted up her so I wanted to have all the aspects done before I uploaded it to my website. I decided to write more in depth about the expedition, but fictionalize it. This is where I struggled in the second draft. I was trying to stick with what actually happened during our trip. By fictionalizing it I was able to weave in the ghost story and make the events occur to go back to the ghost story. I changed the layout completely. I now have the pictures put in the spots that connect with the events that are occurring in the story. The ending I wanted to leave up to interpitation so I left it open ended to leave the reader guessing. I still have my music at the beginning because I like the mood that it sets up. Even though it felt done, something still felt off. I had that aha moment when I saw my Dad reading the newspaper. I created a newspaper article with a picture of my friends and I for missing persons to add the concrete ending I was looking for. It also created the spooky feel that went with the ending of the story. After my conference under Professor Mangini's advice I amplified the ghost story and the ending. I am very happy with its final result.
